Shima's Answer to your ITCHY scalps

Well first things first regarding your itchy scalp. Keep your scalps CLEAN!! Nine times out of ten this is the real reason why so many of us experience itchy, irritated scalps. Because we just apply product after product on our hair AND our scalps. Our scalps is where our hair follicles are located and they should be kept PRODUCT FREE so that our scalps can BREATHE. However, this is not the case with alot of us and hence why I am making a post about it. I found a product that has healed my itchy scalp almost instantly and that product is Sulphur  8 (The Medicated One) as there are different variations out there as you will soon realize when you begin to search for this product. I have listed all its benefits and features below: Keep in mind that you will only use this product for Severely, irritated, itchy scalps ONLY. Because if your head just feels "mildly" itchy all it's really begging for is a good shampooing. So if that's the case use my Shima Hair Repair Shampoo (Available at my Official website Shimahair.com) and use the plastic caps for a good, penetrating treatment  and Voila! Your mildly itchy scalp is gone!

  • Relieves dandruff, itching and flaking
  • Improves hair texture
  • Makes hair more manageable
  • Adds sheen
  • Ideal for natural, pressed and relaxed hair

Moisturizes and softens dry hair and scalp for healthier feeling and looking hair. Relief from tight, itchy scalp and flakes. Restores moistures to both the hair and scalp. Sulfur8 Medicated Anti-Dandruff Hair and Scalp Conditioner makes hair easier to style and you don't have to worry about flakes. Safe enough for hair that has been chemically processed.

Shima's Opinion on Rihanna's Red Hot MESS

Now I love me some Ri-Ri but ever since she came out with this red hot MESS I have been shaking my head ever since. She toned it down some with this color but as you can see on the body shot pic it STILL does absolutely NOTHING for her complexion...She looks like she aged a whopping 30 years!! So this brings me to another FACT. If you are trying to go for a bolder new hair color (ala Rihanna) then please try on a wig with the hue you are looking for FIRST. Do NOT go ahead and color your real hair before testing it out on your friends, family and co-workers. Take pictures, film yourself do whatever you have to do to MAKE SURE you don't end up looking like a Carrot Top reject. Sorry Ri-Ri but I'm just keeping it Shima Girl REAL...

THIS is the hair color I Loooooove on Ri-Ri. This dark brown hue brings out her complexion BEAUTIFULLY.

Shima's Roller-setting 101

I have been using the snap-on magnetic rollers (in all colors!) for the looooongest and with Awesome results 9 times out of 10. It's just a matter of using the right size roller that is right for your particular hair length. The smaller the roller the tighter the curl and the bigger the roller the looser the curl. However, I found out that if you use hair spray before you roller-set the curl can still come out tight no matter how small or large the rollers are. Follow the  steps below to GUARANTEE awesome results of your own each time you rollerset!

1. Shampoo your hair using my Shima Hair Repair Shampoo which helps Repair mild to severely damaged hair by infusing lost protein back into your hair's cuticles.

2. Leave in shampoo for 5 minutes for shoulder-length hair and up to 10 minutes for bra-strap length and longer.

 3. Wash shampoo out with warm water and then use cooler water for the final rinse to seal in your hair cuticles. This locks in moisture ten times better!!

4. Use your favorite Leave-in Conditioner (I used Motions and Optimum Leave-in Conditioners before creating my own brand) and proceed to GENTLY section off your hair with your wide-tooth combs.

5. Proceed to Roller-set with the Snap-on Magnetic Rollers. Use small rollers for ear-length hair. Use medium rollers for neck-length, shoulder-length and bra-strap length hair. And use Jumbo-sized rollers (The ones I use) for mid-back, waist-length and Booty-length hair....Smile. Using end papers will make your curls That Much softer and bouncier, but do not worry if you don't have none as I make mine's come out SENSATIONAL-looking without them.

6. Finally after your roller-set has been dried under your dryer or via air (I use my fan while I read a book or watch TV) apply my Shima Oil to your dry curls as you remove each roller. (You can also simply remove ALL your rollers first and then apply my oil, too.)

And now you are ready to enjoy some fun, sexy, sassy, bouncy, shiny curls!!! So brush them or comb them or simply proceed to your next favorite Protective Style:):)

Remember to post your thoughts, suggestions or questions in the comment box!

To Dye or Not To Dye....

I was looking back at a couple of old pics of  my hair and am digging this one from my 2008 New Jersey Hair Show. I think I dyed it a blue black with one of the Textures & Tones colors. And the white dress definitely helps it stand out even more. But if I do decide to re-dye my hair again I will have to put off the Black hair color a little longer because Black has been my Primary color for yeeeears...LOL! Today as you know my hair is a Rich Auburn color from the Dark & Lovely hair color line. My advice to you Shima Girls is to select the hair color lines that cater to OUR hair type and skin tones. Textures & Tones, Dark & Lovely and Soft Sheen products are the ones I like to try. And remember NOT to color and dye your hair on the same day! Always allow 2 weeks in between. I wait atleast a month to be on the safe side.

Any of you Shima Girls considering dyeing your hair anytime soon? Well post your thoughts and concerns in the comment section...because Remember...hair dyes are CHEMICALS and doing it wrong can cause SERIOUS SETBACKS to your Fairytale,  Mythical Hairlength Goals!!

Shima Girls Forever is our New Name!!

Just wanted to inform all of my Shima Girls that I have decided to change the name of our Blog to Shima Girls Forever. A family of Shima Girls who are always there for each other during our ups and downs. A family of Shima Girls who laugh together and pray together. A family of Shima Girls who will fight to the end to achieve our goals!

Didn't mean to get so carried away but you get the picture...LOL!! So please take note of the name change.

Shima at 6 Years Old with her Natural Hair!

I find myself having to show my non-believers my baby and/or childhood pics  on countless occasions in an effort to show them that "Bad Hair" can grow very, very long. But then guess what happens? "Oh your hair isn't kinky enough or oh your hair isn't nappy enough or you STILL have alot of hair....." This pre-conditioned mindset from many of our Black women that only "Good Hair" meaning Caucasian-like hair can grow very, very long should be legally declared a state of emergency. It is truly a sad day when even showing Proof of something that will benefit YOU if you apply it to yourself is bashed, ridiculed and/or dismissed as garbage. I have come a loooong way since my Natural-haired days and my shoulder-length hair days and experienced every type of negativity you can imagine.....and I'm not just talking about my hair. We are sadly living in a world that THRIVES on putting positive-minded people down and snuffing away their dreams before they even get a proper lift off. I have all the strikes a human-being living in America can have.

1. I am Black (Cuban of African-descent) 2. I speak Spanish 3.I am a female. 4 I am intelligent  5. I have talents 6. I am brave (for a female) 7. I have dreams and making them come true

And THAT'S just scratching the surface. I can go into the nitty gritty details of the 7 Strikes I have just listed but I will leave that for my autobiography as I don't want my blog to go in that particular direction just yet. I am only saying this so that first you can see what I have been up against and still succeeded against the odds AND  because I have soooo many young Black women who look up to me. I want them to know that they are NOT alone and that they too can succeed against the odds as long as we continue to support and help one another.

My First Blog Post! (Smile)
